EXCUSE ME WAITER, BUT THERE'S A PUCK IN MY SOUP - THE BREAKAWAY GRILL
DULUTH, GA - On June 10, The Breakway Grill will open its doors high above the Atlanta Thrashers' practice rink at the IceForum in Duluth. Patrons to this upscale sports bar and restaurant will be treated to the sights of Atlanta's newest professional sports franchise in rehearsal while enjoying a menu not commonly found at neighborhood watering holes.
The IceForum is just one of owner Jack Burton's skating facilities, but the most popular for its ties with the Thrashers organization. From the Breakaway Grill's perch above and behind the net Mr. Burton said, "we wanted to build on the successful combination of the traditional sports pub and restaurant. Diners at the Breakaway Grill will be able to order from an exlectic menu and experience a rare behind-the-scenes view of professional level sports."
In the interest of "fare play", Mr. Burton has hired General Manager/Chef Michael Sullivan to manage the Breakaway and design its unique menu. Mr. Sullivan was most recently Executive Chef of Atlanta's Encore at the Fox and had a very big hand in returning the doomed restaurant to its former glory following a tragic fire that gutted the location in 1996. Specialty items like the Crispy Sweet and Sour Calamari and the Stumbling Oyster headline the hit list that also includes rarities such as sizzling Pineapple and Jalepeno rubbed Shrimp Skewers and Guinness Marinated Steak Tips.
A global selection of beer and choice wines, a separate bar and dining area, and of course a healthy peppering of sport-tuned televisions complete the experience. The restaurant will be open 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and will stay open until 11:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Breakaway Grill is located inside the IceForum at 2300 Satellite Blvd., just three miles north of Gwinnett Place Mall.
